Effluent Screen

An effluent screen should be placed in the outlet of the septic tank for additional filtration of the wastewater. Effluent screens remove solids that could instead be carried out of the tank and potentially clog downstream treatment devices. They should be rinsed off biannually to remove the biological growth that may inhibit flow out of the septic tank.
